In The Now

In The Now

Light as the breeze that touches my senses,
Flowing merrily as the swift mountain stream,
Flying with gay abandon, ever so higher in consciousness,
A new found world, a new experience of real liberty,
Mind, not bound by conventions,
Spirit, not shackled by dogmas,
I follow Nature's law not Man's,
Where heart dictates my moves,
Guided by thoughts pure, coming from the inner core,
My eyes a mirror, like crystal clear lake,
Calmness and peace that lie below its surface,
Oneness of Mind,Body and Soul,
Coming together as whole,
Flame and its source, in eternal glow.

Paradoxes

1)It is said that opposites attract but in real life,it's more the similarities better the adjustment factor.
2)Love is blind and yet it makes the world go round.
3)Variety is the spice of life,so much so, that one can't make up one's mind as to what it is that one is really looking for!
4)"Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder" so why the need to admire oneself for hours in the mirror.
5)Attachment brings about suffering....so say the seers. What about gravity making us all "attached"to Mother Earth?
6)Motherhood is the epitome of maternal instincts....is it so?Doesn't it make the mother more selfish? In the sense, that all maternal instincts get narrowed down to her own creation...."my child vs any other child".Every woman is not so great as Mother Teressa or Panna bai.
7)So called dog lovers pamper their pooches no end but look the other way when they find a stray in distress.Isn't a stray dog, a dog?India probably may be the only country, where people shun its local variety of dogs....so much for the breed! How good is the human breed?
8)Tell someone not to do something, chances are that the other person is exactly going to do just that.
9)Inanimate objects don't have life.People don't think so.....their identity comes with the model of their car,mobile,computer.....anything that shows on person.
10)Many lady drivers are considered as bad drivers by some people in India and yet,of so many accidents that take place, the ratio of errant male drivers far exceeds than their lady counterparts.
There may be many more paradoxes that may be added to the list, but the fact remains, that they surely help to break the humdrum of human existence!

love

What is love?It is one of the most misunderstood words of our times.Yet it is that magic potion that has the power to heal the world. And the best part about it is that the more you give, the more it comes back to you.Anger is destructive(I must admit that I do get angry sometimes, but with a new found awareness,I now know that it is actually not the quality of our souls)and Love is rejuvenating. We all know and we all have heard that before, haven't we?But if we can try, just for a day, to feel love in every cell of our body, the result will startle you.All of a sudden, you will not want love from anybody because there's so much of it to give.....and it keeps coming back in double measure!Shall we give it a try?

Live in the moment

I am trying to follow the "live in the moment mantra"& it is certainly helping me.We keep wasting the precious NOW thinking about the uncertain NEXT.By all means plan for the future and save for a rainy day but having done the needful, stop right there for what was to be done is done.Don't go on thinking what will happen next.Choose to be happy NOW, for we don't know the next & the past cannot be undone,so learn from it and move on.Don't bring up the unpleasant memories from the past and relish in the sadness it brings because soon you'll find yourself in a self pity mode and that is not really empowering,is it?
Choose to be happy through your thoughts because they are your property.Nobody in the world has power to decide what you choose to think. So then, what are you thinking about?Let's make an effort to create a happy world for everyone and it all begins with us:):)

happiness

It is said that happiness is a state of mind....sure no doubts, but what about the ambience?Does it play no role?If that were so,why is it that most of the retreats that one finds to unwind are usually away from the hustle and bustle of the city?I read a book on Vipassana and this question comes in my mind because I am often mesmerized by the beauty of the mountains and irritable with clutter around me.I haven't yet reached a state of complete equanimity.....but the journey is on.

Life&Death

Death is inevitable but life has to go on.For the sake of life, let us spread some peace and joy for as long as we are here.If tomorrow never comes, the good deeds we leave behind will surely make our stay here on planet Earth worthwhile......

The First Step

The First Step
(this is a poem that I came across in the book "Chicken Soup For The Soul") To take the first step
Is a frightening thing.
To face the unknown
The uncertainty it brings.
But like the child
Who is tired of the crawl,
The first step is
The most important of all.

It expands your horizons,
You can see a new light.
The joy of discovery
Is like taking flight.
The first step you take
Will open all doors,
To see yourself as
You've seen you before.

And like the child
Who gives it his all,
Sometimes he falters,
He will teeter and fall.
But strong arms are there
To catch him and then,
They stand him back up
To start walking again.

The longest journey,
Takes one step at a time,
But once you get going
You'll do just fine.
I'll help you along
I'll be right beside you...
As two we'll be strong.

Yes,that first step's a big one,
The most important of all.
But I'll be there to catch you
Should you teeter and fall.
We'll set our sights forward
Grit our teeth and walk on....
When we see that road ending,
We'll break into a run.

I love you,I'll help you
All the way through.
But to take that first step,
Well...that's up to you.
by Rabona Turner Gordon
(when I read this poem, it felt as if God was guiding me for that first step)
